Skill development / Game IQ / Confidence
No filler drills. No empty reps. Everything connects to the game.
01 The development rule
A goal tells me where the player wants to go. It does not tell me what they are ready to train today.
I work backwards from the outcome, identify the capabilities it depends on, assess what is already reliable and build the missing foundations in the right order. Mechanics, footwork, timing, reads and competitiveness are connected so the skill can eventually hold up at game speed.
02 Pricing
All prices are in New Zealand dollars and are charged per session. Availability is kept limited so the coaching stays personal.
Focused development built around one player's game, habits and goals.
Personal coaching with an extra player to create pressure, reads and competition.
A competitive environment with more reads, live decisions and game-like pressure.
03 What we can work on
Balance, footwork, rhythm, release, shot preparation and repeatability.
Control, pace, change of direction and creating an advantage without wasted movement.
Angles, touch, footwork, body control and options around length and contact.
Efficient stops, starts, pivots, balance and movement that supports the skill.
Reading space, defenders, help, timing and the next best decision.
Development that fits how the player is used now and where their game can grow.
Executing skills with speed, control and pressure instead of only in perfect conditions.
Built through preparation, proof and the ability to trust your work when it matters.
04 The guarantee
The guarantee is simple. If a player consistently attends, listens, works with intent and completes the work, I guarantee measurable improvement in the areas we train.
Results mean real development in skill, understanding, confidence, consistency or decision making. It does not mean I can guarantee team selection, playing time, scholarships or decisions controlled by another coach.
Accept the standard05 Inside a session
Watch the movement, identify the habit and understand what is actually limiting the player.
Make the adjustment clear, explain the reason and give the player something they can feel.
Build enough quality reps to make the correction more natural and repeatable.
Add pace, reads, fatigue or competition so the skill has to survive a harder environment.
Finish with clarity on what improved, what still needs work and what the player should repeat.
06 Before you enquire
Players aged 13 to 18 who genuinely want to improve and are prepared to be coached. They do not need to be elite already, but they do need to bring effort.
Yes. Choose the training option you prefer. Small group placement depends on finding players of a suitable age and level, so it may not be immediately available.
Sessions are based in Tauranga. The exact court and time are confirmed when arranging the training.
Basketball shoes, suitable training clothing, water and a willingness to work. Any extra requirements will be confirmed before the session.
If the player attends consistently and upholds the Skill Lab Standard, the training will produce measurable development in the areas being coached. Outcomes controlled by selectors, teams or third parties are not guaranteed.
